Vincent Haupert e22dff17f5 nixos/amd.sev: add hardware.cpu.amd.sevGuest option
Allow setting the owner, group and mode of the `/dev/sev-guest` device,
similar to what is already possible for `/dev/sev` through the
`hardware.cpu.amd.sev` options.

The `/dev/sev` device is available to AMD SEV hosts, e.g., to start an
AMD SEV-SNP guest. In contrast, the `/dev/sev-guest` device is only
available within SEV-SNP guests. The guest uses the device, for example,
to request an attestation report. Linux has in-tree support for SEV-SNP
guests since 5.19.

Edward Tjörnhammar 9b95f21cdb nvidia,nixos/nvidia: add datacenter drivers compatible with default cudaPkgs
For NVLink topology systems we need fabricmanager. Fabricmanager itself is
dependent on the datacenter driver set and not the regular x11 ones, it is also
tightly tied to the driver version. Furhtermore the current cudaPackages
defaults to version 11.8, which corresponds to the 520 datacenter drivers.

Future improvement should be to switch the main nvidia datacenter driver version
on the `config.cudaVersion` since these are well known from:

This adds nixos configuration options `hardware.nvidia.datacenter.enable` and
`hardware.nvidia.datacenter.settings` (the settings configure fabricmanager)

Other interesting external links related to this commit are:

* Fabricmanager download site:
* Data Center drivers:

Implementation specific details:

* Fabricmanager is added as a passthru package, similar to settings and
  presistenced.
* Adds `use{Settings,Persistenced,Fabricmanager}` with defaults to preserve x11
  expressions.
* Utilizes mkMerge to split the `hardware.nvidia` module into three comment
  delimited sections:
    1. Common
    2. X11/xorg
    3. Data Center
* Uses asserts to make the configurations mutualy exclusive.

Notes:

* Data Center Drivers are `x86_64` only.
* Reuses the `nvidia_x11` attribute in nixpkgs on enable, e.g. doesn't change it
to `nvidia_driver` and sets that to either `nvidia_x11` or `nvidia_dc`.
* Should have a helper function which is switched on `config.cudaVersion` like
  `selectHighestVersion` but rather `selectCudaCompatibleVersion`.

K900 4787ebf7ae nixos/hidpi: remove
The single option tries to do too much work, which just ends up confusing people.

So:
- don't force the console font, the kernel can figure this out as of #210205
- don't force the systemd-boot mode, it's an awkward mode that's not supported
on most things and will break flicker-free boot
- add a separate option for the xorg cursor scaling trick and move it under the xorg namespace
- add a general `fonts.optimizeForVeryHighDPI` option that explicitly says what it does
- alias the old option to that
- don't set any of those automatically in nixos-generate-config

nixos/hardware/printers: stop cupsd when unneeded
If socket activation is enable (the default) and printers are configured
declaratively, the ensure-printers service will always start cupsd and
leave it running, thus defeating the point of socket activation.

With this change ensure-printers continues to start the cups.service at
boot, but automatically stops it afterwards if socket activation is
enabled.

Note: Later restarts of ensure-printers will also restart cupsd, but
it's not an issue since it will be reactivate, if necessary.

nixos/hardware/device-tree: make overlays more reliable
This make the process of applying overlays more reliable by:

1. Ignoring dtb files that are not really device trees. [^1]

2. Adding a `filter` option (per-overlay, there already is a global one)
to limit the files to which the overlay applies. This is useful
in cases where the `compatible` string is ambiguous and multiple
   unrelated files match.

Previously the script would fail in both cases.

[^1]: For example, there is dtbs/overlays/overlay_map.dtb in the
      Raspberry Pi 1 kernel.

pennae 2e751c0772 treewide: automatically md-convert option descriptions
the conversion procedure is simple:

 - find all things that look like options, ie calls to either `mkOption`
or `lib.mkOption` that take an attrset. remember the attrset as the
   option
 - for all options, find a `description` attribute who's value is not a
   call to `mdDoc` or `lib.mdDoc`
 - textually convert the entire value of the attribute to MD with a few
simple regexes (the set from mdize-module.sh)
 - if the change produced a change in the manual output, discard
 - if the change kept the manual unchanged, add some text to the
description to make sure we've actually found an option. if the
manual changes this time, keep the converted description

this procedure converts 80% of nixos options to markdown. around 2000
options remain to be inspected, but most of those fail the "does not
change the manual output check": currently the MD conversion process
does not faithfully convert docbook tags like <code> and <package>, so
any option using such tags will not be converted at all.

Run the device tree overlays through the preprocessor before compiling it, as
is done in the kernel. This helps make overlays easier to understand, and
improves compatibility with those found in the wild.

I found the correct command line by running the kernel build with V=1, and then
removing all the arguments related to dependency tracking.

Vincent Haupert b88ddadf8b nixos/intel-sgx: add option for Intel SGX DCAP compatibility
The Intel SGX DCAP driver makes the SGX application enclave device and
the SGX provisioning enclave available below the path `/dev/sgx/`. Since
Linux 5.11, a derivation of the DCAP driver is part of the kernel and
available through the X86_SGX config option; NixOS enables this option
by default.

In contrast to the out-of-tree DCAP driver, the in-tree SGX driver uses
a flat hierarchy for the SGX devices resulting in the paths
`/dev/sgx_enclave` for the application enclave device and
`/dev/sgx_provison` for the provisioning enclave device.

As of this commit, even the latest version of the Intel SGX PSW
libraries still tries to open the (legacy) DCAP paths only. This means
that SGX software currently cannot find the required SGX devices even if
the system actually supports SGX through the in-tree driver. Intel wants
to change this behavior in an upcoming release of intel/linux-sgx.

Having said that, SGX software assuming the SGX devices below
`/dev/sgx/` will prevail. Therefore, this commit introduces the NixOS
configuration option `hardware.cpu.intel.sgx.enableDcapCompat` which
creates the necessary symlinks to support existing SGX software. The
option defaults to true as it is currently the only way to support SGX
software. Also, enabling the SGX AESM service enables the option.

The permissions of the devices `/dev/sgx_enclave` and
`/dev/sgx_provison` remain the same, i.e., are not affected regardless
of having the new option enabled or not.

firmwareLinuxNonfree -> linux-firmware
This renames our `firmwareLinuxNonfree` package to `linux-firmware`.
There is prior art for this in multiple other distros[1][2][3].

Besides making the package more discoverable by those searching for the
usual name, this also brings it in-line with the `kebab-case` we
normally see in `nixpkgs` pnames, and removes the `Nonfree` information
from the name, which I consider redundant given it's present in
`meta.license`.

The corresponding alias has been added, so this shouldn't break
anything.

Tom 5409235160 nixos/iio: mention iio-sensor-proxy in option description
In https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/131094 I mistakenly created a new NixOS module for iio-sensor-proxy because I did not know about `hardware.sensor.iio`.

To help people find `hardware.sensor.iio`, include the string "iio-sensor-proxy" in the description.

To search for an iio-sensor-proxy module, I tried in vain:
* `find -iname '*iio-sensor-proxy*'`
* https://search.nixos.org/options?channel=unstable&from=0&size=50&sort=relevance&query=iio-sensor-proxy
    * This PR will ensure this search query finds `hardware.sensor.iio`

nixos/i2c: add module to set up i2c permissions
This is a very simple module that installs a single udev rule.
The rule set the ownership of all /dev/i2c-* devices to a
group, "i2c" by default but can be changed. The "uaccess" tag
also makes systemd add an ACL for users with a seat[1].

John Ericson 8929989614 lib: Clean up how linux and gcc config is specified
The `platform` field is pointless nesting: it's just stuff that happens
to be defined together, and that should be an implementation detail.

This instead makes `linux-kernel` and `gcc` top level fields in platform
configs. They join `rustc` there [all are optional], which was put there
and not in `platform` in anticipation of a change like this.

`linux-kernel.arch` in particular also becomes `linuxArch`, to match the
other `*Arch`es.

The next step after is this to combine the *specific* machines from
`lib.systems.platforms` with `lib.systems.examples`, keeping just the
"multiplatform" ones for defaulting.

kernelPatches: ath driver: allow setting regulatory domain
Ports an OpenWRT patch for Atheros wireless drivers (ath*) which allows
the user to change the regulatory domain code to the one which actually
applies.

All Atheros devices have a regulatory domain burned into their EEPROM.
When using a device as AP, this domain is frequently overly restrictive
when compared to the regulation which applies in the country the device
actually operates in; often, this restriction disallows IR on all
channels making it impossible to use the device as an AP at all.

This commit introduces the NixOS config option
networking.wireless.athUserRegulatoryDomain which, if enabled, applies
the patch and sets the kernel config option ATH_USER_REGD.

The original OpenWRT patch targets Linux 5.8.

Richard Marko 6c9df40a4b nixos/device-tree: improve overlays support
Now allows applying external overlays either in form of
.dts file, literal dts context added to store or precompiled .dtbo.

If overlays are defined, kernel device-trees are compiled with '-@'
so the .dtb files contain symbols which we can reference in our
overlays.

Since `fdtoverlay` doesn't respect `/ compatible` by itself
we query compatible strings of both `dtb` and `dtbo(verlay)`
and apply only if latter is substring of the former.

Also adds support for filtering .dtb files (as there are now nearly 1k
dtbs).
