A bit hard to list all the potential security issues affecting it but CVE-2021-27928
should be one of them.
This will add `passthru.schema_version` to be used as default value for
the adguardhome module.
It will also update the `update.sh` to keep the `schema_version` in sync
with the version by inspecting the sourcecode.
This might break existing configs, if they use deprecated values that don't
appear in newer schema_versions and schema_version wasn't set explicitly.
Explicit declarations of schema_version always have higher priority.
This also removes the `host` and `config` settings in favour of using the
appropriate `settings`.

This commit refactors `services.grafana.provision.datasources` towards
the RFC42 style. To preserve backwards compatibility, we have to jump
through a ton of hoops, introducing esoteric type signatures and bizarre
structs. The Grafana module definition should hopefully become a lot
cleaner after a release cycle or two once the old configuration style is
completely deprecated.

The actual p4 command is open-source software released under the
2-clause BSD license, so we can build it here (for pretty much every
architecture we support!) and include it in the cache.
This change removes the server-side commands from this package, but they
are now available as part of a separate p4d package instead. (The server
package remains unfree.)
As an added bonus, we can also include the libraries and headers for the
C/C++ API, which will allow us to package any software that uses
Perforce as a library in the future.
This binary was provided by the `cosign` package until now but it is in
the process of being removed, see https://github.com/sigstore/cosign/pull/2019
Since it might be removed during the 22.11 cycle we drop it
preventively. This will make possible security backports easier if we
need them.
Deprecate haskell.lib{,.compose}.generateOptparseApplicativeCompletion*
in favor of the newly added
haskell.packages.*.generateOptparseApplicativeCompletions (plural!)
which takes into account whether we are cross-compiling or not. If we
are, generating completions is disabled, since we can't execute software
built for a different platform.
The move is necessary, so we can receive the /same/ stdenv as the
package we are overriding in order to accurately check whether we can
execute produced binaries.

Because of long standing bugs and stability issues & an
uncollaborative upstream there has been talk on the emacs-devel
mailing list to switch the default toolkit to
Lucid (https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2022-08/msg00752.html).
The GTK build also has issues with Xinput2, something that both we and
upstream want to enable by default in Emacs 29.
This situation has prompted me to use both Lucid an no-toolkit (pure X11) Emacs
as a daily driver in recent weeks to evaluate what the
advantages/drawbacks are and I have concluded that, at least for me,
switching the toolkit to Lucid is strictly an upgrade.
It has resulted in better stability (there are far fewer tiny UX
issues that are hard to understand/identify) & a snappier UI.
On top of that the closure size is reduced by ~10%.
In the pure X11 build I noticed some unsharpness around fonts so this
is not a good default choice.
As with everything there is a cost, and that is uglier (I think most
would agree but of course this is subjective) menu bars for
those that use them and no GTK scroll bars.
For anyone who still wants to use GTK they could of course still
choose to do so via the new `emacs-gtk` attribute but I think this
is a bad default.
A note to Wayland users:
This does not affect Wayland compatibility in any way since that will
already need a PGTK build variant in the future.

- Add clusterInit flag.
- Add some more docs about HA and non-HA modes setup.

Enable keter module
Keter is an apploader which:
1. has the old app running on a port.
2. loads a new one, and wait for that to complete
3. switches the old with the new one once the new one finished loading.
It supports more functionality but this use case
is the primary one being used by supercede.
Adds keter as a module to nixos.
Currently keter is unusable with nix,
because it relies on bundeling of a tar and uploading that to a specific folder.
These expressions automate these devops tasks,
with especially nixops in mind.
This will work with versions above 1.8
The test seems to work.
This uses a new version of keter which has good
support for status code on error pages.
We're using this config at production at supercede
so it should be fine.

This was enabled by default in 18a7ce76fc
with the reason that it would be "useful regardless of the desktop
environment.", which I'm not arguing against.
The reason why this should not be enabled by default is that there are a
lot of systems that NixOS runs on that are not desktop systems.
Users on such systems most likely do not want or need this feature and
could even consider this an antifeature.
Furthermore, it is surprising to them to find out that they have this
enabled on their systems.
They might be even more surprised to find that they have polkit enabled
by default, which was a default that was flipped in
a813be071c. For some discussion as to why
see https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/156858.
Evidently, this default is not only surprising to users, but also module
developers, as most if not all modules for desktop environments already
explicity set services.udisks2.enable = true; which they don't need to
right now.
`cosigned` is no more part of the cosign repository and it has been moved
into a `sigstore/policy-controller` repository. A new package should probably
be created to replace it.

Due to lack of maintenance. It is not compatible with the default
Python version (due to the tornado 5) dependency, and doesn't look
like it will be any time soon.
I was under the impression that setting `services.redis.servers.<name>.save = []` would disable RDB persistence as no schedule would mean no persistence. However since the code did not handle this case specially it actually results in no `save` setting being written and the internal Redis default is used.
This patch handles the empty case to disable RDB persistence.
Disabling RDB persistence is useful in a number of scenarios:
1. Using Redis in a pure-cache mode where persistence is not desired.
2. When using the (generally superior) AOF persistence mode this file is never read so there is little point to writing it.
3. When saving is handled manually

This is a breaking change as the user may have been relying on `[]` using Redis defaults. However I believe that updating the behaviour for the next release is beneficial as IMHO it is less surprising and does what the user would expect. I have added release notes to warn about this change.

Riak have been updated a lot since the version 2.2 (now 3.0.10) but
has seen no updated to the package. This is at this point
a problem forcing us to maintain old versions of erlang.
We would be happy to re accept a newer version of Riak if someone want
to spend the time to set it up.
Qt4 is on it's way out, according to

Barco's ClickShare driver/client requires Qt4;
an update isn't in sight anywhere.
To prepare for the removal of Qt4,
the commit at hand removes the
ClickShare package and its NixOS module.
The release notes are appended with a hint about the
removal and some alternatives that might help users
that are still in need of the driver/client functionality.
The previous version from review.coreboot.org is no longer available at
that address. This reverts to using the upstream, which is also a
rewrite and currently in beta. The full release is expected before
22.11.
Very confusingly, the `isPowerPC` predicate in
`lib/systems/inspect.nix` does *not* match `powerpc64le`!
This is because `isPowerPC` is defined as
isPowerPC = { cpu = cpuTypes.powerpc; };
Where `cpuTypes.powerpc` is:
{ bits = 32; significantByte = bigEndian; family = "power"; };
This means that the `isPowerPC` predicate actually only matches the
subset of machines marketed under this name which happen to be 32-bit
and running in big-endian mode which is equivalent to:
with stdenv.hostPlatform; isPower && isBigEndian && is32bit
This seems like a sharp edge that people could easily cut themselves
on. In fact, that has already happened: in
`linux/kernel/common-config.nix` there is a test which will always
fail:

A more subtle case of the strict isPowerPC being used instead of the

Since the list only gates the platforms the nixpkgs flake exposes
packages to build on, the `hydra` label made little sense. It was also
only used for this purpose, so the `tier*` attributes were largely
unnecessary.
To reflect the intention more accurately, we expose
`lib.systems.flakeExposed` and use it to gate flake.nix's system list.
* Add an option services.nextcloud.nginx.hstsMaxAge for setting the max-age
directive of the Strict-Transport-Security HTTP header.
* Make the Strict-Transport-Security HTTP header in the Nginx virtualhost block
dependant upon the option services.nextcloud.https instead of

This has a number of benefits such as that applying service limits will
actually work since there isn't a layer of indirection (the Docker daemon)
between the systemd service and the container runtime.
This was an annoyance for me as I have editor hooks cleaning up
trailing white space which lead to regenerating parts of the release notes unnecessarily.
`fcitx5` and `service.earlyoom` rely on use XDG autostart files to start.
But for X session with only window manager and no desktop manager
(`none` is used), no one can start them.
This options is added to run these autostart files for sessions without
desktop manager to make other services just work.
With version 17 of Keycloak, the Wildfly based distribution was
deprecated in favor of the one based on Quarkus. The difference in
configuration is massive and to accommodate it, both the package and
module had to be rewritten.
using freeform is the new standard way of using modules and should replace
extraConfig.
In particular, this will allow us to place a condition on mails
Lo and behold, we're finally catching up with Mozillas very own firefox
build in terms of speed.
PGO is an optimization technique in which in a first step we create a
build that supports instrumentation, meaning we can use it to create a
profile of how the browser behaved during usage. Then in a second pass
we create the final build that uses the acquired profiling data to
optimize the browser for the workload it actually received during
profiling.
The downside is that with PGO we now need to build Firefox twice, which
increases the build time from around 20 minutes to roughly 50 minutes.
In the Speedometer 2.0 benchmark multiple tests could see a
responsiveness improvemeant around 20-25%, which makes the increased
build time well worth it.
Sadly this benefit seems limited to x86_64-linux, builds on
aarch64-linux get stuck during profiling and I haven't found out why.

The current wrapper only includes vim, gvim and the man pages
(optionally). This rewrite distinguishes two scenarios, which I expect
cover the majority of use cases:
- standalone mode, when `name != "vim"`, means the user already has a
vim in scope and only wants to add a customized version with a
different name. In this case we only include wrappers for `/bin/*vim`.
- non-standalone mode, when `name == "vim"`, means the user expects a
normal vim package that uses the specified configuration. In this case
we include everything in the original derivation, with wrappers for
all the executables that accept a vimrc.
hostNames being deprecated makes configuring hosts with multiple keys a
pain. including the attr name of the entry in the host name list is a
nice convenience though, so we'll retain it and clarify the
documentation on how the actual host name list for an entry is put
together.

If `services.tor.client.enable` is set to false (the default), the `SOCKSPort` option is not added to the torrc file but since Tor defaults to listening on port 9050 when the option is not specified, the tor client is not actually disabled. To fix this, simply set `SOCKSPort` to 0, which disables the client.
Use `mkForce` to prevent potentially two different `SOCKSPort` options in the torrc file, with one of them being 0 as this would cause Tor to fail to start. When `services.tor.client.enable` is set to false, this should always be disabled.
pam-ussh allows authorizing using an SSH certificate stored in your
SSH agent, in a similar manner to pam-ssh-agent-auth, but for
certificates rather than raw public keys.

Explain why having legacy iptables rules installed can lead to confusing
firewall behaviour, and provide some guidance on how to fix this.
zsh-autosuggestions supports having fallback strategies expressed
through the ZSH_AUTOSUGGEST_STRATEGY array. For example,
`ZSH_AUTOSUGGEST_STRATEGY=(history completion)`. We should also support
this.
This adds an option `services.taskserver.openFirewall` to allow the user
to choose whether or not the firewall port should be opened for the
service. This is no longer the case by default.

This change probably wasn't documented sufficiently in the release
notes, neither the fact systemd stopped using iptables on its own in
case of nf_tables support.

As explained in vpnc's Makefile, a vpnc with OpenSSL support is
non-redistributable. The option to enable OpenSSL support, which is
disabled by default, is even called OPENSSL_GPL_VIOLATION — something
that was conveniently hidden by the strange way the option was set in
the previous version of this package.
New ntopng version supports running as specified user. Create a separate
user for ntopng with a separate Redis instance.
Separate instance is only used for new `system.stateVersion`s to avoid
breaking existing setups. To configure that we add two new options,
`redis.address` and `redis.createInstance`. They can also be used to
specify your own Redis address.
After this change users with non-declarative configs need to set
`services.home-assistant.config` to an `null`, or their
`configuration.yaml` will be overwritten.
The reason for this is that with rfc42 style defaults the config
attribute set will never be empty by default.
--port and --address have both been deprecated and are nonfunctional
starting with kubernetes 1.23. Use --secure-port and --bind-address
instead. This means that users can no longer rely on the insecure port
for anything, so update the release notes accordingly.
Addresses #16545. Allows for user defined environment variables that
hold paths to wordlists. This is to allow for easy access to wordlists
for users and scripts, (in other distributions a convenient wordlist is
typically found in /usr/share/dict/words or similar). The default
wordlist is the one found in scowl, for no other reason than that's the
one that was mentioned in the linked issue.
It is possible to specify multiple environment variables as well. This
is for users who need multiple wordlists (such as multilingual users).
Adding a fake override function via passthru will at least give users of
the old override interface a more helpful error message. Additionally we
also document the changes in the changelog.
Chrome, Chromium, VSCode, Slack, Signal, Discord, element-desktop,
schildichat.
For the latter two, the feature flag useWayland was removed and a
wrapper script was provided.
The `nix.*` options, apart from options for setting up the
daemon itself, currently provide a lot of setting mappings
for the Nix daemon configuration. The scope of the mapping yields
convience, but the line where an option is considered essential
is blurry. For instance, the `extra-sandbox-paths` mapping is
provided without its primary consumer, and the corresponding
`sandbox-paths` option is also not mapped.
The current system increases the maintenance burden as maintainers have to
closely follow upstream changes. In this case, there are two state versions
of Nix which have to be maintained collectively, with different options
avaliable.
This commit aims to following the standard outlined in RFC 42[1] to
implement a structural setting pattern. The Nix configuration is encoded
at its core as key-value pairs which maps nicely to attribute sets, making
it feasible to express in the Nix language itself. Some existing options are
kept such as `buildMachines` and `registry` which present a simplified interface
to managing the respective settings. The interface is exposed as `nix.settings`.
Legacy configurations are mapped to their corresponding options under `nix.settings`
for backwards compatibility.
Various options settings in other nixos modules and relevant tests have been
updated to use structural setting for consistency.
The generation and validation of the configration file has been modified to
use `writeTextFile` instead of `runCommand` for clarity. Note that validation
is now mandatory as strict checking of options has been pushed down to the
derivation level due to freeformType consuming unmatched options. Furthermore,
validation can not occur when cross-compiling due to current limitations.
A new option `publicHostKey` was added to the `buildMachines`
submodule corresponding to the base64 encoded public host key settings
exposed in the builder syntax. The build machine generation was subsequently
rewritten to use `concatStringsSep` for better performance by grouping
concatenations.

SUID wrappers really shouldn't be enabled by default, unless a consumer
relies on them. So in my opinion this falls upon the desktop
environments if needed or a user to explicltly enable this if wanted.
Most desktop environments and services like CUPS already enable polkit
by default, that should really be sufficient.
Currently it's rather difficult to install tmux plugins. The process involves two steps:
1. Specify the correct `pkg.tmuxPlugins` package in `environment.systemPackages`
2. Adding to the configuration file to instantiate the plugin.
This commit allows the user to specify a list of plugins under `programs.tmux.plugins`.

This option behaves exactly like `boot.extraModprobeConfig`, except that it also includes the generated modprobe.d file in the initrd.
Many years ago, someone tried to include the normal modprobe.d/nixos.conf file generated by `boot.extraModprobeConfig` in the initrd: 0aa2c1dc46. This file contains a reference to a directory with firmware files inside. Including firmware in the initrd made it too big, so the commit was reverted again in 4a4c051a95.
The `boot.extraModprobeConfig` option not changing the initrd caused me much confusion because I tried to set the maximum cache size for ZFS and it didn't work.

Now that the terraform 0.12 compatibility is not needed anymore, the
`terraform.withPlugins` and `terraform-providers.mkProvider`
implementations can be simplified.
Instead of building a bunch of bin wrappers on instantiation, the
providers are now stored in
`$out/libexec/terraform-providers/<registry>/<owner>/<name>/<version>/<os>_<arch>/terraform-provider-<name>_v<version>`
and then a simple `buildEnv` can be used to merge them.
This breaks back-compat so it's not possible to mix-and-match with
previous versions of nixpkgs. In exchange, it now becomes possible to
use the providers from
[nixpkgs-terraform-providers-bin](https://github.com/numtide/nixpkgs-terraform-providers-bin)
directly.
This replaces the naive K=V unit parser with a proper INI parser from a
library and adds proper support for override files. Also adds a bunch of
comments about parsing, I hope this makes it easier to understand and
maintain in the future.
There are multiple reasons to do so, the first one is just general
correctness with is nice imo. But to get to more serious reasons (I
didn't put in all that effort for nothing) is that this is the first
step torwards more clever restart/reload handling. By using a library
like Data::Compare a future PR could replace the current way of
fingerprinting units (which is to compare store paths) by comparing the
hashes. This is more precise because units won't get restarted because
the order of the options change, comments are added, some dependency of
writeText changes, .... Also this allows us to add a feature like
`X-Reload-Triggers` so the unit can either be reloaded when these change
or restarted when everything else changes, giving module authors the
ability to have their services reloaded without having to fear that
updates are not applied because the service doesn't get restarted.
Another reason why this feature is nice is that now that the unit files
are parsed correctly (and values are just extracted from one section),
potential future rewrites can just rely on some INI library without
having to implement their own weird parser that is compatible with this
script.
This also comes with a new subroutine to handle systemd booleans because
I thought the current way of handling it was just ugly. This also allows
overriding values this script reads in an override file.
Apart from making this script more compatible with the world around it,
this also fixes two issues I saw bugging exactly 0 (zero) people. First
is that this script now supports multiple override files, also ones that
are not called override.conf and the second one is that `1` and `on` are
treated as bools by systemd but were previously not parsed as such by
switch-to-configuration.
