On the 2024 matrix conference the EOL for the sliding-sync-proxy was
announced to be 2024-10-15. While the repo does not yet reflect that
state, we should not be taking the the sliding-sync proxy into NixOS
24.11 under any circumstances.
This package was marked as vulnerable in
<https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/255959>, almost a year ago and
over a year after the project was archived upstream. The package and
module are unusable without bypassing a security warning in 23.05,
23.11, and 24.05.
Given that the package is intended as an organizer for
potentially‐untrusted media files, the vulnerability is critical and
leads to remote code execution, and there is basically no prospect
of upstream releasing a fix, remove the package and module entirely
for 24.11.
This is a full rewrite independent of the previously removed cryptpad
module, managing cryptpad's config in RFC0042 along with a shiny test.
Upstream cryptpad provides two nginx configs, with many optimizations
and complex settings; this uses the easier variant for now but
improvements (e.g. serving blocks and js files directly through nginx)
should be possible with a bit of work and care about http headers.
the /checkup page of cryptpad passes all tests except HSTS, we don't
seem to have any nginx config with HSTS enabled in nixpkgs so leave this
as is for now.

mkAliasOptionModule should not default to mdDoc descriptions because
that can break out-of-tree users of documentation infrastructure. add an
explicitly-MD variant for now, to be removed some time after the MD
transition is complete.
Riak have been updated a lot since the version 2.2 (now 3.0.10) but
has seen no updated to the package. This is at this point
a problem forcing us to maintain old versions of erlang.
We would be happy to re accept a newer version of Riak if someone want
to spend the time to set it up.
Still actively developed and yet stuck on python2. Also marked as
vulnerable and their issue tracker contains yet another security issue
reported in 2021/10 that the upstream hasn't acknowledged yet.
Mind blown.
Closes: #135543, #97274, #97275
Upstream repositories do no longer exists. There has been no release in
a while. - Not a good combination for a network daemon running as root
in C that parses network packets...
udev gained native support to handle FIDO security tokens, so we don't
need a module which only added the now obsolete udev rules.
Fixes: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/76482
Due to the support of the systemd-logind API the udev rules aren't
required anymore which renders this module useless [0].
Note: brightnessctl should now require a working D-Bus setup and a valid
local logind session for this to work.
[0]: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/79663
This module allows root autoLogin, so we would break that for users, but
they shouldn't be using it anyways. This gives the impression like auto
is some special display manager, when it's just lightdm and special pam
rules to allow root autoLogin. It was created for NixOS's testing
so I believe this is where it belongs.
On numerous occasions I have seen users mistake this
module as libinput because it being called "multitouch"
and them being unaware that the actually module they want
is libinput. They then run into several decrepit bugs due
to the completely out-of-date nature of the underlying package.
The underlying package hasn't been changed to an up-to-date
fork in a period of 8 years. I don't consider this to be production quality.
However, I'm not opposed for the module being readded to NixOS
with new packaging, and a better name.
As of 2020-01-09, way-cooler is officially dead:

hence, remove the package and the module.

A centralized list for these renames is not good because:
- It breaks disabledModules for modules that have a rename defined
- Adding/removing renames for a module means having to find them in the
central file
- Merge conflicts due to multiple people editing the central file
This PR is part of the networking.* namespace cleanup. We feel that
networking.hostConf is rarely used and provides little value compared to
using environment.etc."host.conf" directly.

This PR is part of the networking.* namespace cleanup.
ssmtp used to be configured via `networking.defaultMailServer` which is
sort of misleading since it provides options only for ssmtp. Other
dumb mail relays like nullmailer have always been living under
services.
The intent of this PR is to align ssmtp's options with those of similar
services. Specifically, two renames have been done:
* Rename `networking.defaultMailHost` to `services.ssmtp`.
* Rename `directDelivery` to `enable` because this is what it basically does.
osquery was marked as broken since April.
If somebody steps up to fix it, we can always revive it from the
histroy, but there's not much value in shipping completely broken things
in current master.

As part of the networking.* name space cleanup, connman should be moved
to services.connman. The same will happen for example with
networkmanager in a separate PR.
